Open Data Mediation Committee
Welcome to Open Data Mediation Committee.
Open Data is being increasingly used as a means to enhance benefits for citizens in various areas including transportation, weather, and land.
The new government of Korea chose "Realizing People-Centered Service-Oriented Government 3.0 through opening of public data" as an important national agenda, thus aggressively pushing to open up data owned by public organizations.
Accordingly, in a bid to secure legal and institutional support, Open Data Law was enacted and the Law went into effect in October 2013.
As emphasis is placed on opening up and utilizing public data, the country has created an open data dispute mediation system, to review cases of dispute when provision of data held by public organizations is refused or stopped.
By ensuring that maximum public data is provided to and used by citizens, Open Data Mediation Committee will carry out its role as a fair mediating body and thereby support adding value to open data and insuring that misuse or abuse of public data that could hurt citizens does not occur.
Looking ahead, we affirm our pledge that the Committee will do its best to provide more efficient and prompt dispute mediation service.
